Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring compound found in the resinous flower of the cannabis plant. It is one of more than a hundred phytocannabinoids, which are unique to cannabis and give it a robust therapeutic profile. It is derived directly from the hemp plant, which is a cousin of the marijuana plant, both strains of Cannabis. Unlike marijuana, hemp contains no more than .3% THC, tetrahydrocannabinol, the main psychoactive compound which is found in higher concentrations in marijuana and causes the “high” sensation.
